Places to Visit in Andaman


Havelock Island, mostly inhabited by Bengalis, is situated nearby Port Blair. The emerald sea water surrounding the island is the haven for very large fishes, turtles and dolphins. Tourists can spot the dolphins in the serene waterfront of Havelock Island.

Radha Nagar Beach

Radha Nagar Beach is one of the most popular attractions of the Island. Earned “Best Beach in Asia” in 2004, this beach is also referred to as Beach no. 7. The beach is extremely gorgeous with its brilliant, pristine and blue water. Walking on the pristine sands along the shore, one can hear the sound of waves gently splashing against the beach.

Elephant beach

Elephant beach is one of the unique beaches located in Havelock Island. The coral in this beach is simply the best on the island, making it a magnificent spot to enjoy snorkelling.

Cellular Jail

Cellular Jail, presently a revered shrine dedicated to great Indian freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the Independence of our Nation, is situated at Aberdeen near Port Blair in Andaman Islands. The Cellular Jail meant to imprison the freedom fighters of India was built in 14 years beginning in 1886 by the British rulers.

The visitors can see the light and sound show depicting the sacrifice of freedom fighters and also showing up the brutal history of the Cellular jail. The Martyr’s memorial, a gallery and a museum are also located here, reminiscing Indian independence struggle.

North Bay Island

Located in Port Blair, the beach around Coral Island is well known for water corals. The island with pristine sand beaches, edged by natural beauty is perfect for sea loving human and nature lovers. The coral reefs are beautifully adored by nature drawing many visitors.

The Island was considered as the place of penal settlement for the freedom fighters of India. This Island was part of the great Indian independence history and had witnessed the sufferings and sacrifices of Indian national involved in freedom struggle.
